Yeah, Japanese manuals kick ass. I bought a copy of Shin Onigashima recently, and was pleasantly surprised to discover that its manual is a double sided scroll printed on a sort of fiber material rather than the usual glossy booklet. The art is very slick as well. Everything is styled like a traditional Japanese painting; it sets the tone for the adventure quite nicely. American manuals just didn't do stuff like this.
