It's only a natural evolution anon. Megaman X4 didn't look that much worse, it looked like a top tier arcade game of the time, it's X5 and X6 that mucked everything up with those anemic sprite sheets and ugly pre-rendered backgrounds. The budget downgrade was insane, iirc MMX4 bombed for its budget.

Yup I know, why did you think I mentioned Sega in my post? I don't think Capcom doing somethng like that for Megaman is unfeasible at all but I guess they're not willing to take any sort of loss.
