Felt like revisiting an old work after the RJ417020 & review from last thread, so this’ll be about RJ266012. To begin with, it definitely sets a darker tone as the heroine is someone who became isolated at school due to bad rumors and turned to sleeping around to deal with her loneliness (like a self-fulfilling prophecy). What makes this series a bit unique is that the work is split into two different routes (A & B), with A having you go down the fall-in-love route, and B being more of a physical relationship route. What makes this story shine is actually its sequel RJ321349, as it takes that initial premise and builds upon the story. In both cases, you two go on a hot spring trip for different reasons. If I were to summarize my thoughts, it would be that I liked route A more in the first work, but route B was definitely the highlight in the sequel with a much stronger payoff; and don’t worry, both routes have happy endings. Lastly, I can’t forget to mention Yomogi did an excellent job portraying the heroine’s emotions. It’s unfortunate 嘘の手助け hasn’t been active in recent years, but if you found this work interesting, do give their other works a listen too.
