Let's get something straight, nobody actually knows what is or is not real. All we know from science is what is, or is not, at the present, reproducible.
To the uninitiated, you might ask what is the difference; the difference is this - when you don't actually know what is the ultimate source/mechanics..etc. behind the observed phenomena, how everything really came to be, then for all we know what is reproducible today might not be tomorrow. And what might not be consistently reproduced today, could be in the future. AKA the Problem of Induction.
