It's better for Oda to project all of the destiny shit into Shanks and not into the MC, because if not the fans will complains like for Naruto that the MC had a destiny anyway and never worked to reach something.
It make the things better that Luffy get the Joyboy / Nika thing by a total foolish accident. Shanks is also probably a failure and Luffy will fix everything.
