Carriers (and modern ships in general) have no armor worth mentioning, a spicy rifle round will penetrate the hull no problem.
It's obvious when you look at how carriers sit in the water, there's a gigantic volume above the water and a relatively small volume under water, any appreciable amount of armor would make them sit so low in the water you could hang your feet into the water from the flight deck.
Look at any armored ship from the past, huge hulls below water with barely anything sticking out above.
A big anti-ship missile with a penetrating warhead would smash thru the entire ship and blow up somewhere in the middle and break the keel.
Same with a regular heavyweight submarine fired torpedo, would straight up break it in half and sink it in one go.
