I have no idea, the mangaka should have drawn in better. And here's a second example on the very same image, where the shark's is somehow lower in the water midbreach in the 3rd panel.(the shading here is also a mess and obviiously the motion of acending upwards is not portrayed well at all) And he can't be descending, because in the 4th panel he re-enters the water in a different direction.
