Bhopal disaster is interesting case. It was something caused by negligence of a local Indian subsidiary under local, Indian management. It however became a cause celebre because the subsidiary was Western-owned, so the Indian government and world media jumped on it because they could pin the blame on the bad Whitey from America. Indian government loves to spread the BS that India is the perpetual victim of the Whitey and take credit for whatever good the Whitey has done.

Meanwhile, similar shit happening in India usually gets zero notice and Indian government keeps suppressing such stories. I guess few of you have heard for example about Kedarnath Disaster which was man made (illegal mining caused massive landslides under torrential rain) and had similar death toll as Bhopal
