>Tempest nodded at you before you could even turn to look at her.
>”I heard it too.”
>She stared at the air right beside your head.
>Where there was nothing.
>You shivered again.
>The temperature was plummeting, fast enough that fingers of frost formed on the window.
“Should we go search for it somewhere?”
>She shook her head and let out a breath that formed a cloud of silvery mist.
>”It’s here.”
>Her hoof hit the floor with a loud thump.
>”Show yourself! What business do you have with us?”
>A silence followed.
>”Why… are you here?”
>A hushed, dull voice came from somewhere right next to her.
“We just needed a place to hide and then stay the night. We didn’t know there was anyone here. All we’ll do is sleep and leave.”
>”You need… shelter?”
>Another silence followed, after which you heard a quiet rattle before a cat walked into the kitchen from the living room.
>”I understand. We will share this shelter.”
>The cat – grey with black stripes – leaped onto the table and sat down, staring at you.
>”There is food in the closet. Fill my bowl.”
>It didn’t speak, really, but more made you aware of what it had to say.
>You didn’t remember seeing a bowl, nor a cat bed or anything.
>Tempest let out a chuckle.
>”A cat? What are you doing here, and who do you think you are making demands?”
>It stood up and padded as close to the mare as it could on the table.
>Its tail flicked back and forth.
>”This is my territory. My nest.”
>Tempest rolled her eyes, then looked at you.
>”Whatever. I need a shower. Play with the cat if you wish.”
