There are like Nier and some others that I can't recall but they do infact exist. The developers just pull the plug once they have told everything they needed and provide offline support. You could always just do what HI3 and GF1 did by having post-campaign stories when the "finale" is over. I don't think gachas and a narrative end goal are mutually exclusive.

Sums up how I feel about it desu, I really do hope they'll at least wrap up some of the shit explained in 2.X because I'm kind of lost on why they even bothered establishing such things. I do enjoy events like the ones that we have right now because they answer a question to the Storm rather than opening 4 new ones
