“Adjunct Alvin’s ‘opinions’ were heard and noted.” Lycus says, cutting you off. “We recognize the numerous difficulties he encountered on his way to Morfis. However, there is no definitive proof of a traitor in our ranks.”
>“Are you kidding me?” You almost laugh at the ridiculousness of the notion.
“Almyran Pirates are an unfortunate reality we face when sailing the seas in our trade with Fodlan.” Dexithea says.
“And the Cult of the Serpent has been an ever-present thorn in our side. Attacks from them are not uncommon out in the desert. Hardly a conspiracy.” Nicon adds.
>“And what about the fucking Riahi? They knew about the Agarthium!”
“As did Adjunct Targa.” Lycus says. “As a high-ranking Adjunct, he was privy to that information. Given his failure to report back to Morfis, I suspect he was the one who hired them. Perhaps the fool thought he could open Tartarus alone.”
“He used the rogue mage Andreas as a tool to deactivate the Djinn Orb.” Chryson says. “Tempting him with Researcher Nadia’s work, which he coveted, and a safe space in Shangri-La to uncover its secrets.”
“Secrets that would be better off lost.” Lycus says solemnly. “Thus, we dispatched Kosmas to deal with him.”
>“And what happened to Nadia’s research?”
“Confiscated and sealed away.” Lycus says. “It is far too dangerous to see the light of day. In any event, it is nothing you need to concern yourself with. Your mind is clearly already troubled with more than it can handle.”
>“This is…”
Preposterous. THESE were the Royal Sages? The ones that held the true power in Morfis? It couldn’t be more obvious that someone in this room was behind all the misfortune that hounded your party since your arrival in these lands. There was no way you could simply chalk this up to coincidence. There was a reason they found it convenient to pretend there was no traitor in their midst. Someone in this room had to be lying. Someone was covering something. But who?
“This is what?” Chryson asks, mocking you. “The Four Sages are the pillars of Morfis. We are the wisest this country has to offer. Hurling such an accusation at us…you should count yourself fortunate you are protected by the rules of this ridiculous contest.”
“But if you’re so sure there is a traitor among us.” Lycus says. “Then tell us…who is it?”
>A): Lycus
>B): Dexithea
>C): Nicon
>D): Chryson
>E): It’s all of you.
>F): Refuse to answer.
