After playing it for a day and letting it settle in my brain overnight I have come with a progress report
Overall, not bad. I have been enjoying it. It's not RF4 levels but I don't think anything will be. With that in mind, I think what bunks it an amount is that he mechanics are maybe a little too simple. It's like RF ToD in that way, from the farming and crafting to even the new skill tree and town management aspects. I still liked ToD because it was mega comfy with a nice cast of characters, which I wouldn't say GoA is as comfy, but I do enjoy at least the building aspect. Cannot comment much on the cast yet as it's given me about 1 event for Murasame and like 3 for Iroha and booba goddess. Will unlock more guys soon, whenever I finish the quest for the third town where Cuilang sits there taunting me for not having the DLC.
Something I do appreciate about the farming this time is that there is a top down mode for building that you can also do your farming in, so it basically takes no time at all to water/harvest/plant. Something perhaps needed since the NPC villagers cannot farm to save their life, takes hours for even a whole herd of them to do just a small plot of land. A wooly in any other game is far more efficient than these geriatric fucks.
The combat is fine, RF affair, though with the addition of some ranged weapons and the sacred treasures which are fun to use. The bows seem kind of busted since you can just fire from 500 feet away while your party goes to town.
I had a more detailed write up but character limits haunt me.
tl;dr would put it next to RF ToD
