Not really? Most games end up with positive or light-hearted note when they gather in Hakurai shrine and drink sake together or some stuff like that.
I never saw Touhou characters as cunts, I played nearly ALL of the games before I even touched any of the mangas and the differences between the two were staggering to me. Well not all of them, 3 fairies and FS were mostly fine but whaletits, Kasen and Satori mangas are just what the hell is this, it doesn't even feel like written in the same universe.
And sure if you interpret all characters to be pricks either way that's fine I can see that, but... That's just boring to me. I want likeable characters I want to root for someone I want to get invested, if certain character is struggling I want to want them to succeed.
But if they are all unlikable it's boring I can't get invested in the story because i don't care what happens to unlikable people.
