Working on Byleth wig and likely messed up with trying to use spike glue for flared ends. For this wig in general, what do I need to fix?

problems I've noticed:
Didn’t have curling iron, used spiking gel to try to made bottom layer flair out
Spikes started splitting in half, so I applied (too much) glue further up spike, now its just a long spindly mass
Both spray and glue residue visible on wig
Frizzy crimp texture throughout cuz I didn’t layer an extra weft on them
