>In 2018, there is a period of feminization of immigration in Spain, where women went from representing 48% in 2009 to 51.6% of the total number of immigrants (Oso, 2018). According to the data offered by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Spain, we can observe an outstanding trend of feminization among the immigrant population originating from South America2 that remained stable between the years from 2018 to 2021. In these years, the percentage of women among the population originating from South America residing in Spain remained around 56 %, as we can observe in the following table:
