Does anyone else feel like movies have become so bad that most movie reviews are no longer about the movies themselves, they're about how they are relative to other movies. If a movie is just "okay" then critics are actually very pleased with it whereas in the past they would've excoriated the same movie, because being merely mediocre is now an achievement in our era of slop.

For example, the new Sonic 3 movie. It fails at every basic level of plot, characterization, tension and pacing. But it had enough funny and exciting moments to keep the audience entertained so the reviews were mostly positive. If the same movie came out 15 years ago it would've been universally derided as a disappointment. Movie reviews are no longer trustworthy.
