I can kinda relate. I played R and Lonesome Spirit back to back last year, and I think R is the best game in the series.
Lonesome Spirit is still very good though, for its story, gameplay improvements, kino ending and postgame, and it has some of the best h-scenes in the series. It’s still a very easy recommendation for anyone that liked R.
Lonesome Spirit also has scenes with all the original cast anyway, so you won’t be missing them too much. Some of the new girls are great too.
