A suit from the 30s is not wearable in the modern context except as costume. People notice things even if they can't articulate what they're noticing, even "small" details like pick stitching/lack thereof, or kissing buttons, or the roll of the lapel, or the curvature of the pocket makes a suit instantly jump out as a product of another time, let alone the overall cut or fit.

Anachronism becomes less of a flaw on elderly/overweight people because people have different expectations for an 80 year old or a fat guy compared to a younger physically fit man but anyone who wears suits or hangs around people who wear suits is going to notice a suit from another decade, no matter how similar the relative fullness of the cut is compared to today, because all of those little details add up to something alien looking.
