In fairness, by this point, Hagor was an old man who'd spent much of his time in idleness. At one point, he had a magical item which summoned an intangible servant, and he gave in to laziness until he lost the item around the same time he met Mica. Had he been only 10 years younger, she would've stood no chance against him even with her training.
Excited beyond belief, Mica thanked Hagor for all his work. Hagor gifted her some of his leftover gold pieces, and allowed her to keep a magical sword he hadn't touched for a few years now. Even he had forgotten the properties of the blade, but he was sure it would help her in her journey.
Mica's first combat experience came while she was travelling on horseback and met by a pair of thugs blocking the way to a bridge. Seeing no other way to cross the river, she got down from the horse and asked what they were doing. One of the men stated they had to collect a toll for the bridge, and it would cost 5 gold pieces. His ally, however, stated they would accept "other" forms of payment if she wished.
Disgusted, Mica got back onto her horse and turned around, only to return charging at them with her sword drawn. Seeing the horse rushing towards them, the bandits drew their weapons hoping to slash it down and get their hands on Mica. Their plan was a partial success; one managed to skewer the horse, but in the same motion was struck in the side of the head by Mica's blade. The wound wasn't deep enough to kill, but it left him incapacitated on the ground. As the horse collapsed, Mica was sent crashing into the bridge with her leg caught under the animal. The other thug had managed to slash at the horse's leg, and the animal kicked and flailed as it bled out on the bridge. Mica got up and drew her sword, wounded but ready to fight.
