After the last great war, people were robbed of all their culture and skills and given nothing but consumer junk as a replacement. They can't hold on to any of it, they can't pass any of it on to their children, it all crumbles to shit along with them, everything that seemed so valuable to them then or now is worth nothing; how proud the boomers were back then of their first car, their first computer or their first video recorder, all of which they saved so hard for and worked so hard for - only for it to become completely worthless a few years later. And every generation gets their own pointless consumer junk shoved into their empty hands as a substitute for a lack of culture, skills, morals and community to build something together.
