I remember that in the '90s-early 2000's there was a big meme about indian immigrants being the only expats who hated their homeland and told people to avoid it like the plague.
I distinctly remember stand up comics talking about this. That indians would always shit on india and talk about how they hated going back there because of the stink and the filth and how stupid and offensive their fellow indians were.
bear in mind that for a long time india had a strict caste system. At the top of the pyramid were a relatively small number of almost-humans. Notably lighter skinned.
At the bottom, the vast majority of the population, where the people who for hundreds of years were only allowed to be shit wipers and dung diggers and corpse washers. These people were only allowed to breed with other untouchables. Only allowed to live amongst other untouchables.
Imagine taking a population of dogs and working out which were the stupidest ones. And then for generation after generation you only allow the stupid dogs to breed with the stupid dogs. The stunted and malformed with the stunted and malformed.
That is the modern indian. A centuries long experiment in seeing how low selective breeding can bring the human genome.
