It was built by highly skilled builders that were also very well paid. It was built in the second half of the 13th century in Rannoyant Style. The workshop that built it was highly specialized. This was the first time in history when scaled plans were used. During the winter the builders worked in heated workshops doing all the stones, and during the summer they put the stones together according to the plans. It was so efficient that the cathedral was entirely built in only 50 years, from 1255 to 1305.
