For all the buggy glitchy issues Hedehog Engine 2 has and it's issues with draw distance & pop-in it at least mostly plays well and fluid without chugging resources and without boiling artifacts and terrible post-processing. UE5 is a hulking rusty oil tanker by comparison unfit for a speed-based platforming title that will sell best on the most under-powered console of the generation. No chance in hell given the development cycle it'd be using the UE 5.6 update and SEGA would be too cheap to allow ST to port their work over to the newer version either:

This would be the equivalent of Capcom dumping MT Framework after DMC4 but without migrating to a real successor like RE Engine.
