How are you going to clearly outline the half circle back then forward motion of GG supers, or the Geese pretzel motion in shorthand?
"hcbtf"? "db,hcb,df"? Who will understand that without being a glossary of every messy and vague abbreviation, and how is anyone who speaks anything other than English even going to glean their meanings? Western motion notation is absolutely awful and extremely limited. You are better off writing a full sentence describing the motion.
And the "Dragon Punch" or "Tiger Knee" notation, "dp" "tk"? The fuck is that going to mean to anyone who doesn't already know what those specials are in English?

Comparatively, anyone who has ever looked at a keyboard numpad or a calculator can immediately understand a quick sequence of numbers like "236" "632146" "623" which exactly describe the motion inputs needed to anyone across the world. Hell, most numpads have fucking arrows on them to clue people in. And since every fighting game (besides Tekken) uses letters for the buttons, having numbers for directions and letters for normals makes number notation a far more clean and clear system.
The one universally understood shorthand motion is "360" because everyone knows what a 360 is and it's a fucking number.

If only unicode ascii/emoji arrows were universally accepted across all webpages, fighting game notation would have gravitated to them long ago because you could put down actual fucking arrows.
