As a southerner I find myself drawn it. The sadness inherent in their their culture reflects our own down here. I grew up in the 90's where towns were closing down from NAFTA and everyone's parents were losing their jobs, entire towns were dying, 30 years later things really haven't recovered, it's just that yankees are moving down here exploiting how shitty they made it with the trade agreements. They even bring in their own outside employees when they set up shop down here. It fucking sucks, they drive up the prices, change the laws to make it more liberal, and tell us how great it was up north despite hating it enough to leave in the first place. I grew up among empty towns and abandoned factories and plants to go explore. Having monsters and anomalies to interact with are just the sugar on top in the STALKER games. I've been fascinated with these games since I was a teenager watching the development of the first one on filefront back when those websites existed. Stalkerfiles hosted a bunch of old mods back in the day. I bought the game on release from a Target when I was 16. You've gone and made me nostalgic.
