It has a lot to do with the US domestic response to the middle east crisis. we've had activists deported on very spurious grounds, and others doxxed and harassed. my university has surveillance drones everywhere now, much heavier police presence, social media monitoring of students, and very heavy handed "anti semitism" training modules. it's become very totalitarian on campus, it's natural for people to be concerned, especially with this Epstein and AIPAC stuff
