I still think Brotherhood had the objectively better story, but you can tell just by watching that '03 was Studio Bones' baby that they poured their heart and soul into making. I go back every now and then and watch the OP/EDs just because the art is dripping with soul. Brotherhood's art direction is still very good, of course, but compared to '03, it feels more like an obligatory "we made this so that people wouldn't complain that the manga didn't have a proper adaptation" series.
