Maybe I've missed the past few threads, but that's a ton of new faces to my eyes.

>your OCs' general story tones
First and foremost, I focus on building their stories to an overall theme that's more in line with S1/S2 levels. I'm very much about them making friends and experiencing their own little adventures and lessons. I like crafting OCs as background ponies, but I do stray and make a bit of a marey sue if the setting is far-flung from the time that FiM takes place.
For this blue fag, I've got this concept for a city called 'Neighwhere' that's basically a miniaturized but more down-to-earth (ponies) Canterlot. If there's violence, it's Over a Barrel/Canterlot Wedding tier. It all boils down to ponies having flaws that drive them to having miscommunications. In the end, my OCs realize they're happier if they just work through their issues together. That usually plays into a final interaction where they get to meet with canon elements to reflect on their lessons and new wisdom. A common example for me is Celestia hitting them with the 'Rest, now, and tell me what you believe you've learned.'
I love FiM's setting for having the right setup for medieval/early industrial fantasy, and ponies for being a perfect medium for telling overtly optimistic, bittersweet stories. So, that's how pretty much all of my ponies end up. I do have some specialized ones (i.e., >bats for darker elements, and a >dracony for an odd sci-fi concept), but they're pretty much all built to be background ponies in FiM's tone.

>I have two OCs I wanna make
I love both of those, especially that headcanon and the meat cutie marks.
