People seem to forget that almost all of Canadian forests are boreal forests that have skinny, sparse and scraggly trees that grow in peaty or waterlogged soils with shallow roots. Most of it is nutrient-poor soil on rocky or boggy ground, with degrading permafrost. I honestly feel bad for them. What a waste of so much land. Reminds me of Northern Minnesota.
