sounding may be difficult because you are not supposed to be hard while doing it. you ideally should be flaccid
never, EVER force it ever ever ever. ever
a proper sounding setup should be a "drop it in by gravity, no resistance" situation
also you should really have the appropriate probes to sound with. don't use random objects
your first time doing it, passing the sphincter located at the urethral meatus might be uncomfortable or difficult. it takes a lot of relaxation to get used to it at first. again, never force it. a meatotomy (cut through the underside of the penis head) that opens the urethral meatus up can bypass this if you're interested in modification. it really does work.
and finally urethral stimulation is unpleasant to a lot of people. don't get your hopes up too high.
