I harp on this every time but that really is the spirit of resentment that motivated Karl Marx. Liberals, leftist, marxists of all stripes are angry at the pain of existence itself (and specifically their own failure to thrive in it, or the responsibility that success is dependent upon), view it as cosmic injustice, and want to lash out to harm and punish and brutalize it in any way imaginable, while rationalizing it for their own egos that they're doing it out of a moral obligation to correct the "unfairness".

Resentment is the nucleus of all evil.
