I'd say it depends, at least for me. There's definitely a case of sameface too, but I don't think it's bad to have options as long as the non moe-blob Tama are still there. Yeah giving them clothes and hats and all the frills goes a long way to making them feel out of place (or rather, make the old Tama do?) and yet I can't say I don't find them cute regardless, they're a different kind of appeal from what the Tama used to be so it's definitely polarizing
