Cowpat Throwing Championship Held in Russia's Perm Region
The annual "Merry Cowpat" festival took place in the village of Krylovo in Russia's Perm region, featuring its signature event: a cow dung throwing competition. The event, held as part of the village's annual celebration, drew a crowd of approximately two thousand spectators and participants.
This year's competition saw more than 240 men and women compete to see who could throw a dried cowpat the farthest. Contestants hurled the specially prepared projectiles, which are dried to ensure they do not soil hands or clothing.
Despite strong participation, the all-time festival record of 64 meters was not broken. The winner in the men's category, Evgeny Alekseev, achieved a throw of 45 meters, while Oksana Belova won the women's competition with a distance of 29 meters. The festival, which has been held since 2008, is supported by the regional ministry of culture and includes other traditional contests such as running with wheelbarrows and yokes.
