Thank you for reading BORDER BRIEFING FILE. The truth is I had planned to release this a little earlier,
but a lot happened and it was delayed. I’m very sorry.
I liked reading databooks of series like Doraemon when I was young, and preparing the data brought
it all back for me. The truth is I wanted to draw more schematic types (like schematics for the inside
of Border’s base, or schematics for Tamakoma branch, or the expedition vessel), but due to the issue
of time and physical ability, this time the focus was on numerical and textual data. The data
prepared by Ashihara this time was the Character Ability Parameters (trans: the radar charts),
Equipped Trigger Catalogue, Family Makeup Catalogue, Q&A, and the 8 graphs for the Data Fans
Want to Know Ranking. If given the chance, I would like to publish schematic types in one of the
manga volumes or the next databook.
In the Character Ability Parameters, besides the current 8 there were also ‘Experience’, ‘Room for
Growth’, and ‘Popularity’ on there originally, but they looked like they’d make things complicated
and were removed. In the end, the setting was that these are reference data based on Border’s
training, rank wars, and actual combat, so those numbers are not absolute. For instance, I think
Chika’s trion ability is a much higher number in reality. Also, the perception of ability between
characters is somewhat different from the data as well I think (like how Izumi assesses Yuiga to be
above Osamu).
I wrote this in the Q&A section as well, but I made this book in the hopes that it would help aid the
readers’ happy fantasising, so I would be glad if everyone reading this interprets it in whatever way
makes it fun.
