Anyone remember the big scandal when those home DNA tests first came out and Turks started to freak out when they found out they were Greco-Kurdish-Armenian mutts, literally all the people they hate and surpress (because they maintain their ethnic identity, religions and voting blocks) the government was begging people not to do the dna tests.
Real Turks are central Asian peoples and live in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan etc.
The Turkish LARP was created to create a national identity after the collapse of the empire. Less than a hundred thousand real Turks from Central Asia ever came to Anatolia, they came in and assumed control of the completely militarily depleted states already present and made them speak their language, but genetic assimilation never occurred. Even the Turkish royal family became primarily European and Circassian through their arranged marriages and concubines from these areas.
