Battle Wizard;
Two main builds.
Famished Flames with a flamesword and just spam heavy1 95% of the time. Safe and effective. Take a beam staff for specials and monsters.
or Big Spells with Volcanic Force. Bolt Staff being the primary choice for Cata, but still good with almost all of them. Conflagration is fun on Legend and below where it can nuke hordes.

Pyromancer;
Queen of spell spam. Grab heatsink on your staff and build for crit. Fireball, Coruscation, Bolt, and beam are the best for it. Requires good game sense to make the most out of it, weaving in some ranged spam while in melee.

Unchained;
Very tanky if you can manage your heat. has two main playstyles.
Conservative, where you try your best not to explode. Best with Flaming Flail and heavy1 spam. Bomb Balm for extra support.
or Abandon enabling. Take a melee weapon that is good at gathering thp, like flamesword, and a ranged weapon with high heat generation, like beamstaff. Gather enough thp to be at 100% health, then deliberately blow yourself up to speed up skill cooldown thanks to Abandon. More safely used at 40-50% skill charge, earlier can get dicey. This lets Unchained cycle Wildfire or Bomb Balm more often. I like Wildfire for this. However there isn't enough enemy mass to really enjoy this playstyle until cata and sometimes Legend.
