You're already seeing them do this, in fact. Just look at Aquaplus and Key here basically just throwing in the towel and saying "yeah Steam hates us but we need them so we can't do anything about it". Both of them have had games banned from Steam, games that weren't even porn by the way.

Inti:

>Aizu: We would love to make and release more “GalGun” games. However, the platform holders have not been receptive. Currently, Nintendo is the only platform where we can release GalGun.

>Steam was fine until a while ago, but now Steam has become strict on sexual issues. In Asia, it's not a big deal and it's accepted, but in the West, if it's set in a school, it's a school, it's targeting minors, so it's hard to deal with stories set in a school.

>It became a situation where we worked hard to make the game, but which platform can we release it on? If I said, “Let's release it only on the platforms we can release it on,” I would end up making a new GalGun game, and the people who enjoyed the previous game, PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, would be angry because they couldn't play it even if they wanted to.

>That's what's happening now, and it's really limiting for indie developers. There are fewer platforms that we want to make, that we want to put out, that we want to enjoy, and we may not be thinking about how to do that as a business first.

>If you tell me that I can make it anyway, I honestly want to make it, but if I can't enjoy the finished game on the hardware I have, it will be a little disappointing.

Aquaplus:

-The bishoujo game market shrank at one point, but with the emergence of games that can be played on Steam, I think there is a trend toward Japanese visual novels being reevaluated around the world. What do you two think about this trend and the Steam market?
Orito: As for Steam... the screening process is strict (laughs).
Everyone: (laughs).
Orito: I've heard that the standards change depending on the person in charge of the review, so it's quite difficult.
