The carriage arrives at the palace and pauses while gates are opened and hooded lanterns are lit. But once inside the grounds, where normally one would get out and walk, the carriage remains in motion. Through the dim light, you see that you are being drawn along a boulevard and through another set of iron gates.

The carriage comes to a complete stop in a shaded garden, its clinging ivy and wisteria bushes long since dead.
