I like the gripen but exercises and BFM don't really amount to much unless they are part of bigger excercises like red flag etc. The amount of T-38/T-45s that got positive kill scores against the F-22 is in the double digit. Same with our MB-339s and M-346 scoring positive kills against F-15s, F-2000s, Rafales etc.
Why? because most of these excercises have specific set of ROEs and limitations.
The fact they mention "rounds" makes it clear they were doing either BFM or DACT.
I still believe the Gripen is the best choice for smaller nations who want a modern frontline fighter that doesn't break the bank and that can be operated from improvised runways.
