Threads died in recent years. Centralization of artists fighting for clout on Twitter might really be the main issue, everything nowadays is about chasing clout and turning it into profit, or you have artists starting their own hugbox Discords where they always have someone willing to commission or pay for Patreon and such. Back in the day neither of those aspects were so prominent, at best you had Picarto streams and rare IRC/Skype group, but the threads were a viable place to connect everything. Now artists simply don't need this place anymore.
