Yes, you know who founded Mellanox? Intel, of course!!… in cooperation with a bunch of Israelis.
Mellanox makes ethernet and other networking stuff, so it makes sense for a gpu company to buy it, right? (Don’t think about it too carefully)
That building OP posted used to be the Mellanox building before NVidia renamed it after paying more than two times the market cap (cap was 3 billion, bought for 7 billion). Yes, this is insane.
The good news is they never had any Fab capabilites. We’re not sure what they really did there, and not sure what they’re doing for NVida.
The whole thing is crazy until you realize the money train was just switching drivers from intel to nvidia.
