Umemaro is downstream of a very specific attempt by a few industry creators to really get CGI anime to become a thing. There's this little window where a specific style was forming and Umemaro was a part of that, arguably the only part that survived in any real way. Nobody talks about Blue Remains or Malice@Doll these days.
