“Are you sure it’s wise to spend this much gold?” Adeline asks, a hint of worry in her voice as you carry a large amount of items that had caught your eye in your arms. You walk over to the shop counter, where the bewildered employee looks at you with awe, before spilling everything in front of her messily. She begins to sort through each item one by one, putting them in a bag for your convenience.

“T-that will be 23,000 gold…” She says. Her eyes go wide when you dump your bag of winnings on the counter in front of her. The coins go spilling all over the place, several onto the floor, and the woman’s shoulders sink as she realizes she’ll have to count it all.

>Gold: 1800g

“Frugality is nice and well, but this is not the place for it.” You tell Adeline. “Hoarding gold will do me no good for the battles that are to come. Besides, once I win, money will be the least of my worries. This is simply smart spending. I’m investing in my future.”

While you wait for the shop’s keeper to finish toiling away at your vast amount of gold, you begin reading through a tome that had caught your eye. A powerful spell of fire that supposedly could melt the flesh of terrors with ease. While you didn’t expect to run into any Terrors in the Competition, you recall Marek’s words. How he’d said he found a champion to represent his interests. You doubted you’d seen the last of the fiend, and you figured a spell like this would be handy to deal with whatever monsters he sent your way.

>Sacred Fire learned!

As you read through your tome, enjoying the Moonfrost Slush you’d acquired, the door to the Emporium slides open. A woman with purple hair and a pale complexion walks in, accompanied by another female in the fine garments of the Royal College. Both women are clearly mages, however, it is the purple haired woman who grabs your attention. The vast amount of magic emanating from her makes your hair stand on edge. At her left side, was a strange sceptre, made from what looked like bleached bone. In its center was a red jewel that looked uncomfortably like a pulsating eye. This was no ordinary sorceress, and that was no ordinary staff. It was a Hero’s Relic. Which meant this could only be one person.

“Ahh, I see you’ve discovered the wonders of the Emporium as well.” Leonora Gloucester says, her voice sweet and smooth. “To think a humble looking shop such as this would put all the marketplaces of Leicester to shame. This country certainly is a fascinating one, wouldn’t you agree, Tristain d’Rusalka?”

>“Leonora Gloucester, I presume?” You step forward.

“You presume correctly, good sir.” Leonora smiles, offering you a curtsy. “It seems that both our reputations have preceded us.” She gestures towards her companion. “This is Adjunct Filomena. My dear friend and guide in this land.”
