To set the record straight; the SA80 came to be because the factory and engineers who designed a manufactured it turned the AR-18 into a bullpup to get around patent laws (also the MOD wanted a cheap bullpup). Since they knew they were out of a job after they had built the gun, the quality of the design and manufacture reflected the black hole of morale the workers had.
