The left frequently fucks up and makes the right look cool in their fiction because of a lack of empathy. They identify as being so much more compassionate to others, but their main concern seems to be outsourcing compassion from themselves, institutionalizing all the work while failing to express charity in their own personal lives. They've so disabled their ability to empathize with people who aren't like them that they can't wrap their heads around why someone wouldn't like their leftist stand-ins. These characters are defined by emotional intelligence, vulnerability, lack of pride, low assertiveness, and out-group preference. Turns out people who haven't already internalized the convenient idea that weak=virtue don't think that's cool. Even when they try to make the right look dumb, that's not enough to counter the optics of accidentally making them look cool, relatable, and sympathetic.
