You just haven't figured out Blood yet. Once you have the game has you constantly change weapon to accomodate the situation. I played Blood so much that now I'm bored and don't play it anymore precisely because I know exactly what to use in any given circumstance to be the most efficient, but that still precisely demands to switch weapons all the time
