Bowie gave him literally a way out to figure his shit out. The Idiot is definitely a surreal experience, timeless for how Iggy riffs lyrics on the spot, the epic magnificence of proto-industrial Mass Production closing out the record, truly a masterclass of nihilism in a year that was born to lose; seeing no procession of a year to follow
