British rule, howsoever oppressive, was manifold times better than the yoke of Mohammedan oppression. We Hindus could breathe, almost after three quarters of a millennia, thanks to the East India Company. The British brought us from the grim valleys of strife, backwardness, and oppression to the sunny uplands of education, rule of law, civility, etc., and so much more.
