I wonder if what happened to Hakuowlo also happened to Dii. My current guess is they're both from the "human" world, and they overwrote the memories of whoever had their current bodies. Maybe Hakuowlo has those weird flashbacks to a wife and child because they're remnant memories from his body's previous owner. And maybe Dii's current owner is the one who shot him in the human world? Hakuowlo had the same voice in that cutscene for sure, but Dii is voiced by Char's VA and I don't remember that guy having his voice.
