All because THC allegedly causes reefer madness, which it of course doesn't. Forest and cotton industry are still fighting hemp, while alcohol and drug industries fight the medicine the plant produces. So this is major corporations lobbying bills that unconstitutionally ban hard working farmers from growing the #1 crop. Anyone could make a profit for growing hemp. It grows really fast and doesn't need pestisides either. It's a very durable plant. Besides fibers it also produces hemp oil and seeds which are very nutritional. And nobody is allowed to grow it without some special permits. If they find like 0.02% of THC in any plant they destroy all crops and file charges. That's the level of lobbying and corruption a hundred years later.
